Gladys Melina Recalde
My name is Gladys Melina Recalde, and I am the new Spanish teacher at Torres! I am extremely excited to help every Wildcat develop their Spanish skills. I was born and raised in Chicago, and I never plan on leaving this wonderful city. I studied in CPS schools from elementary school to high school. Once I got my International Baccalaureate Diploma, in high school, I went to the University of Wisconsin in Madison. In Madison, I studied Spanish and Education Policy. After receiving my Bachelor's Degree there, I went to earn my Master's Degree in World Language Education at DePaul University.
I am married and have a 2.5 year old son. We speak English, Spanish, and Spanglish in our home, so my son is learning all three! I also love doing crafts and being creative. I hope to share all of that with my students and have fun as we learn Spanish. I hope to meet everyone soon! Please always feel welcome to contact me with any comments or questions about my class. ¡Mi nombre es Gladys Melina Recalde y soy la nueva profesora de español en Torres! Estoy muy emocionado de ayudar a cada Wildcat a desarrollar sus habilidades en español. Nací y crecí en Chicago, y nunca planeo dejar esta maravillosa ciudad. Estudié en las escuelas de CPS desde la escuela primaria hasta la secundaria. Una vez que obtuve mi Diploma de Bachillerato Internacional, en la escuela secundaria, fui a la Universidad de Wisconsin en Madison. En Madison, estudié Español y Política Educativa. Después de recibir mi licenciatura allí, obtuve mi maestría en educación de idiomas del mundo en la Universidad DePaul.
Estoy casado y tengo un hijo de 2,5 años. Hablamos inglés, español y spanglish en nuestra casa, ¡así que mi hijo está aprendiendo los tres! También me encanta hacer manualidades y ser creativa. Espero compartir todo eso con mis alumnos y divertirnos mientras aprendemos español. ¡Espero conocerlos a todos pronto!
