Omar E. Torres Elementary School is proud to offer a remote learning experience to all students, kindergarten through eighth grade. Learning from the spring #AceroLearnsEverywhere model, Torres Elementary has adapted its remote learning experience to account for best pracitces in student engagement, virtual instruction, and social-emotional wellbeing. Our 2020-2021 remote learning experience is different than the spring 2020 experience.

Students will have scheduled times each day when they are expected to participate in whole group, small group, and/or individual instruction with their teachers. The schedule will be announced prior to September 4th so that you can plan accordingly. Instruction begins September 8th.

Students will have assignments/projects to complete weekly. These tasks can be completed on a schedule determined by the student’s family, but must be completed by the deadline provided by the teacher.

In the spirit of building strong relationships, students will be assigned a homeroom teacher and a squad leader. You can find details on Squads below. In some cases, the homeroom teacher and the squad leader will be the same person. However, this is not always the case.

Student attendance will be taken daily in accordance with state law and guidance. Students are expected to engage daily in their learning and will meet daily with a teacher.

Torres teachers will implement the school’s curriculum virtually. The curriculum will be the foundation of all learning. EdTech programs will supplement this learning, but will not replace the curriculum.
